“Mr. Deerman gave students a great deal of freedom and trust, which allowed us to create truly unique work beyond rigid frameworks.

Mr. Deerman was also instrumental in helping me craft a successful portfolio and gain acceptance to university. He provided detailed, honest feedback and realistic guidance throughout the entire process. He taught us how to write effective artist statements, plan ideas through mind maps, and present our work professionally. He even focused on small but critical details, such as photographing artwork properly, arranging portfolio pieces, and writing concise and impactful descriptions within strict character limits.

Thanks to his guidance, I was accepted into CMU Fine Arts, my dream school. I quickly realized how significant the portfolio was in the application process, and I felt fully prepared because of what I learned in his class. The planning, critiques, PER method, and instructional videos all played a major role in helping me create a strong and confident portfolio.” ~Cindy Kim (Class of 2026)

Our Ontario certified educators have over a decade of experience in international schools and Masters of Fine Art degrees. Our student’s portfolios consistently out perform global scores and regularly earn students admission to top post secondary Visual Art & Design programs. Through a combination of group sessions, asynchronous online material and one on one support, we provide high school students with the support and expertise needed to guide them in pursuing their artistic interests, creating their best work and ultimately, completing portfolios that will take them where they want to go after grad.

AP (Advanced Placement) courses are rigorous, college-level classes offered in high schools by the College Board. These courses cover a wide range of subjects like math, science, history, and literature, preparing students for college-level work and allowing them to potentially earn college credit. At the end of the school year, students can take a college-level AP exam, scoring on a scale of 1 to 5, with a qualifying score (usually 3 or higher, though some colleges vary) potentially earning them credit for the course at many universities. The Visual Art & Design course culminates in a portfolio submitted to & scored by the College Board.
